Stefano ‘’The Hammer’’ Abatangelo (18-3-1, 6 KOs) is out for revenge! The Turin-based boxer travels to Denmark to face Erik Skoglund (20-0, 11 KOs) for the European (EU) and IBF Intercontinental Light Heavyweight titles on September 13 at TAP1 in Copenhagen.
The 32 year-old has vowed to end the young Swedes winning streak against Italian opposition and avenge his countrymen’s defeats. “I know that Erik has enjoyed some success versus Italians in the past, but his run is coming to an end on September 13.
“I might have been overcautious when I fought his team mate Juergen Braehmer last year. But this time, I won’t make the same mistake: I respect Erik, but I am ready to walk through him with my pressure.’’
The Italian’s coach Dino Orsa also believes Skoglund will have met his match when he squares off against Abatangelo in the Danish capital. “Erik may have been able to get past Lorenzo Di Giacomo and Danilo D’Agata as of late, but Stefano will offer him something different,’’ said Orsa.
‘’Erik better not be fooled by Stefano’s tactics in the Braehmer fight: this time we will come with a different attitude. Erik is a good fighter, but he is nowhere near Braehmer’s level. We are coming to win, we will not be cautious and we will be returning to Italy with the belts!’’
